Nachdem der Ammonit starb, versank er im Schlamm des Meeresbodens und wurde mit der Zeit zu diesem wundervollem Fossil. Die mit hellem Calcit auskristallisierten Windungen des Gehuses bilden hierbei einen besonders schnen Kontrast zum dunkleren Gestein.
